IDT Solution
After studying the Customer’s use case and requirements, our experts came up with the idea of moving the QuickBooks application to the private cloud and publishing it for in-house employees as an internal SaaS solution. For this purpose, Amazon AppStream 2.0 was evaluated and proven as ready-to-go. Amazon AppStream 2.0 is a fully managed application streaming service, allowing users to stream desktop applications securely from AWS to any device.
During the implementation phase, a custom Windows based EC2 machine image was built, having QuickBooks application installed and ready to run. After that, we’ve defined an instance type and size optimal for running the QuickBooks application comfortably, and created a fleet of EC2 instances, running in a VPC private subnet. End users were defined via the User Pool feature of the AppStream 2.0 service.
As our standard practice, all the components of this new solution were deployed using the Infrastructure As Code approach. Our DevOps team provided comprehensive documentation, enabling the TM Group IT Department to take over the management of their new AWS infrastructure with minimal effort.
